Ghostface Killah: “Milk Em (MHE mix)”
From Milk Em 12″ (Sound In Color, 2005)
Back when “36 Chambers” dropped, I don’t know if anyone would have predicted that Ghostface would emerge as the most consistently charismatic and entertaining member of the crew more than ten years down the road. Something about the dude is just magnetic.
The recently released Sound In Color 12″ features 5 different mixes of this cut, with Ghost dropping jewels left and right. Rapping about Frosted Flakes? What? The Trife verse isn’t too bad either, and I had to give the MHE mix some shine, not just because they’re from San Diego, but because this is some of the hardest shit I’ve heard Ghost spit over in a minute. Hold your head when the beat drops!

hey dstill808, if you didn't know, that beat is from the Soft Machine, the band that opened for Hendrix on his first American tour. kiler stuff: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=&sql=10:qb6uak4k5m3n
Word, thanks for the heads up, I hadn't spotted that one. I rock "Six" and "Seven" the most, but it's been a minute. Not as familiar with the earlier stuff. MHE knows their psychedelic shit pretty well and I dig the way they flip shit.
I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I don't quite consider this hard. It's hot, it's got that wild rock feel to it, but this is not the type of head-nodder you hyped it up to be.
THANKS FOR NOTHIN'.
Except great music.
This is a nice variation from the somewhat generic clubbanger#682 beat of the original.
Calling Trife's verse "not bad" is a bit of an understatement, I think – dude kills it! "My opening lines'll open ya mind…"
shittt. that MHE track is fuckin hard. it definitely fits ghost. the breakdowns on trife's verse are also hot. a great ghost/indep label collab.
man, i just got this. shit is fire.
