Hey Earfuzz peoples, fONk here. Felt like I let Earfuzz boss man Junior down this week. I’ve been working on a post on the later funk years of Buddy Miles, but I’m talking to a few heads who know more about his Columbia / Epic / Casablanca albums, because I know little about them right now. Sure are some funky jams so there you go, I got to do more research to represent Buddy’s deep funk!
Anyways, since I’m still working on that, here’s a quickie, not crate digging here, just getting to the new ish – listen to Sly Stone here – doing the intro rap, and singing beautifully with his daughter Novena Carmel, aka BabyStone, and there’s more at her MySpace. This must have been recorded in the past few years, and the timbre of his voice sounds like it’s 1972 still for Sly. Blown away by the sound here. I also suggest you read Jeff Kaliss’s new book on Sly Stone.

Nice! This tripped me out, I just got into a Sly and P-Funk mood recently, went out and picked up some LP's that I had never got around to picking up. Didn't know about Babystone, nice looking out!
